Study on Characteristics of Collected Lines and Correlation between Some Phenotype of Korean Red Raspberry (Rubus Crataegifolius)

Abstract
In order to obtain basic data for selection of superior lines and for breeding in raspberry (R criaegifolius L.), this experiment was carried out. Thirty lines selected from local lines which have been widely distributed in the area of Jinyang of Gyoungnam province according to the results of a preliminary survey and were used as materials of this study.
The results are as follows;
1. The first flower of every lines was bloomed during from 10th day to 20th day of May and the flowering period of them was for 9 to 11 days and was not shown a certain tendency with lines.
2. In the date to begin ripening of the fruit, the earlist was the 7 th day of June (S-24), the middle late the 15th day of June and the latest the 2nd of July (S-28). The earlier were short (about 19 days) and the later were long (about 25 days) in the ripening period. According to the maturing habit the lines were classified into early line (12), middle late line (13) and late line (5).
3. All of thirty lines were remarkably different between each line in character. The lines were same in certain characters, but showed pronounced difference in other characters. Therefore, each Line can be definitely distinguished from each other.
4. In yield per bush, S-24, S-17, B-21, B-22 were the most prolific but B-21 and B-22 were more or less of inferior quality. The other lines showed remarkably poor crop and especially the late lines were more of them.
5. The correlation between nine characteristics was as follows;
The height of bush was positively correlated with the length of branch, the yield per bush and weight of 100 berries; the length-of branch with weight of 100 berries, No. of berry per fruiting shoot and yield per bush.
Also the fruit juice of 100 berries was positively correlated with weight of 100 berries and the yield per. bush with the fruit juice of 100 berries.
On the other hand, No. of berry per fruiting shoot was highly negatively correlated with the sugar content, and especially No. of branch was negatively correlated with all phenotypes except. No. of fruiting shoot.
